During the 1996-98 period, Robbie Fowler was at the peak of his goal-scoring prowess for Liverpool, cementing his reputation as one of the most natural finishers in English football. Nicknamed "God" by the Anfield faithful, Fowler was a key figure in Roy Evans’ attacking side, forming a dangerous partnership with Stan Collymore and later with a young Michael Owen. In the 1996-97 season, he scored 31 goals in all competitions, helping Liverpool challenge for the Premier League title before ultimately finishing fourth. However, the following season (1997-98) was more challenging for Fowler, as he suffered a serious knee ligament injury that sidelined him for much of the campaign, limiting his effectiveness. Despite the setback, he remained a fan favorite and an iconic figure for Liverpool, known for his lethal finishing, instinctive movement, and ability to score in all situations. Though his influence waned slightly due to injuries and the emergence of Owen, Fowler’s legacy as one of Liverpool’s greatest-ever strikers remained intact.
